Laurel, Maryland

Community Information

Laurel Maryland is located at the tip Prince George’s County, providing easy access to Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. The city dates back to the 1800s, and several buildings from that era still stand on Laurel real estate. One of the most famous is a renovated 1840s home that now serves as the Laurel Museum. Yet modern-day amenities also abound in this vibrant community. Laurel real estate owners enjoy visiting the plethora of local businesses along Main Street and attending popular annual events like the Laurel Main Street Festival and RiverFest, which is celebrated each October along the Patuxent River. Several performing arts venues also call Laurel Maryland real estate home.

Laurel Maryland real estate is characterized by an appealing blend of older Victorian homes and new developments. Whereas some Laurel Maryland real estate owners prefer to live in the city’s Historic District, others are just as happy in planned communities like the 2,200-acre New Urbanism village of Konterra. The appeal of Laurel Maryland real estate is also enhanced by the city’s low crime rate and excellent public schools. Capitol College, a private college devoted to technology, engineering, and business, is located in Laurel Maryland, along with two elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. This makes Laurel Maryland real estate ideal for families with school-age children.
